The Triton's Trumpet is one of the largest shells found in the warm waters around the Bahamas. They can grow to 18 inches. Most Triton shells have a hairy covering that protects their thick shell. They feed on other mollusks and starfish by secreting a fluid that paralyzes their prey.

Cool Facts: Since ancient times large Tritons Trumpet shells have been used as trumpets. You might see pictures of the mythological god Neptune blowing a Triton shell. Also, the first nuclear submarine to go all around the world was called Triton.
